Dog Grooming Tips
Grooming our canine companionis a very important task that needs to performed everyday to keep various insects and other unwanted things away as well as to keep the skin and fur healthy and bright. Its also essential for proper development of its physical and mental health.
In the following section we have narrated a few tips and trics for proper grooming practices :
- It is necessary to brush the coat of your dog daily to remove dirt and also to spread the natural oils throughout the coat. This also prevents tangles, keeps the skin clean. The skin also remains free from irritation in the process.
- Some dogs may dislike grooming and in the process may resist grooming. For a dog who resists brushing, some kind of teates and and praise may be necessary in order to train it in grooming exercises.
- The nails of the dogs needs trimming once a month. This can be done using clippers designed specifically for dogs. A scissor can also be used for the purpose. It is a good practice to keep a small bottle of blood-clotting powder by your side, in case some accidental injury occurs.
- In order to cut the nails of dogs, the dog's paw can be gently taken in your hands. The nails should be shortened till just behind the point at which the nail begins to curve downward to in order to avoid injury. It is necessary to trim and dewclaw too which is located on the inside of each front leg just above the paw too. This is to be done in case your dogs have them. •It is necessary to check the dogs ears twice a month in order to avoid ear infections and permanent hear loss in the dog. The inside skin and the flaps should look pale pink.
- The canals and the flaps should be cleaned using a cotton ball moistened with little mineral oil or warm water
- A pet toothpaste can be used to brush the teeth of the dog at least twice a week. A small toothbrush with soft bristles is the best fit.

If the aforementioned dog chores are well performed, it will keep the dog fresh, smelling nice, healthy and active with shiny, glossy coat.
