• Avoiding flavored or oily food in the dog diet. Till the dog gets fully recovered certain food stuff should be avoided like butters, sauces and gravies.
• During this period the dog should not be given his usual two large meals. Instead, he should be given four or five small feedings, after regular intervals.
• The dog should be fed with dog bland home-made food. White rice, yoghurt, cottage cheese and cooked meat should be included in his meals.
• The dog pet food should contain some amount of probiotics. Some probiotic powder in his drinking water may also be addeed.
• Fresh and clean Water should be provided every 15 minutes so as to replenish the lost body water. He can also be given clear chicken broth every now and then.
• Its a good practice to rest your dog's abdominal tract by making him fast for 12-24 hrs. Food that can be easily digestible should be given and water after sometime.
• The dog can be fed with fresh pumpkins. This will help in regulating the bowel movements and also add color to the stool.
