Dogs

It has been rightly said that "A dog is a man's best friend". Dogs have remained as the oldest companions of men who have shown their loyalty through times immemorial. They have served mankind by being his guide in hunting expeditions in the jungle, guarded his homes, pulled his sledges on snow and played with him. Dogs have shown utmost devotion and love to humans. A dog doesn't desert his master in prosperity and poverty unlike friends and relatives. The only friend that one will find in this world who will be happy with the tidbids and won't accuse you of anything that you will do is perhaps a dog.

Proper Dog Care

Dogs and humans have remained best friends since time immemorial. As dogs provide unconditional loyalty, love and friendship to their owners, we, human beings should play our part and show our affection by taking proper dog care, looking after their food, water, shelter and safety requirement. We should provide regular veterinary care and keep them fit, healthy and cheerful by exercising and playing with them. I am suggesting a few tips to take proper care of your dogs :

The dog should be properly collared and an ID indicating the dog's name, owner's name, address, and telephone number should be attached to it. If a dog gets lost somwhere this ID will play a big role in helping him to safely find the dog owner and home.

In order to adopt a dog, the legal requirements need to be met and the tags should be obtained. The dogs should be vaccinated properly at right times against deadly diseases like rabies and parvo etc.

A dog should always be on leash and should not not be allowed to roam freely although if a valid-license and a rabies and ID tag is obtained.

We should provide proper shelter to a dog which may include a fence yard and a doghouse for large and active dogs. However, it is seen that most dogs crave for companionship with humans and do not like to be left alone for long periods of time outside the home. Its necessary on part of the family to spend some time with him too.

In order to ensure that the dog remains healthy, regular veterinarian check-ups need to be done.

If there is no intention of breeding the dog, we should get it neutered, which is just a simple routine surgery. It helps the dog to live longer, be healthier and have fewer behavior problems.

The dog should be provided with a nutritionally balanced diet with constant access to fresh water which is very important for proper growth of the dog.

The dogs should be trained with positive reinforcement training techniques. A trained dog behaves better and shares greater bonding with his owners.

It is very necessary to keep the dog physically fit and healthy and for this purpose the dog should be taken on walks twice a day should be made to exercise. However, the level of exercise depends on the breed of dog and age of the dog.

The canine provides loyalty and faithfulness and the dog also expects a similar behavior from his owner. Persistent behavior problems on part of the dog should be brought to the notice of the veterinarian.
